Completing the 2020 census means more resources for businesses and communities across the country. Census measures housing affordability, housing patterns, housing vacancies, new housing, and residential financing. The data is also used for redistricting purposes and for reapportionment, to ensure fair representation in Congress.

Enforce Civil Rights Laws
Identify Needy Areas and Families
The decennial census is a population count that is mandated by the U.S. Constitution to take place every 10 years in all 50 states, U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia. The U.S. Census Bureau, a section of the U.S. Department of Commerce, is responsible for oversight and administration of the census.
