Broward Beaches Closed for July 4th Weekend

Broward County Administrator’s Emergency Order 20-19 establishes the closing of Broward County Beaches from Friday, July 3 at 12:01 AM until 11:59 pm on Sunday, July 5.

The Order also clearly identifies the entities authorized to enforce the closure and sets forth consequences for non-compliance, including civil and criminal penalties.

Violations may be prosecuted in the same manner as misdemeanors are prosecuted, including fines not to exceed $500 per violation, imprisonment not to exceed 60 days, or both, and/or as civil violations including fines of $1,000 per day per violation or fines of up to $15,000 per violation.

The Order sets the minimum standards for compliance, however municipalities may establish more stringent standards within their jurisdictions, to the extent allowed by law.
