RWorld Members Create Change in Tallahassee

From January 9th - 11th, thousands of real estate professionals and RWorld Members gathered in the capitol for the Great American Realtor® Days (GARD). This annual event provides a platform for real estate professionals from all over the state to voice their opinions and engage with legislators in face-to-face interactions before making crucial decisions.

Despite facing delays, severe storms, and tornados that swept through the Florida Panhandle, RWorld Members were determined to reach Tallahassee.

After arriving, members had the significant opportunity to meet with 26 legislators, ensuring their voices were heard and impactful solutions were developed for the real estate community. By sharing stories and discussing community challenges, Realtors® received valuable feedback from those responsible for enacting positive change. Notably, they advocated for the Live Local Act and Hometown Heroes Housing programs, highlighting the importance of understanding legislative priorities to drive meaningful change. Additionally, they discussed insurance reform on roofs and initiatives to provide homeowners with better protection and affordability. This level of involvement allows real estate professionals to fulfill their responsibilities and proudly represent their profession and clients.

By participating in these events, Realtors® gain access to a wealth of resources, fostering unity within the real estate community and creating opportunities for change throughout Florida.

According to Florida Realtors®, "Legislators have shown optimism and a genuine desire to collaborate with Realtors® in resolving pressing issues that directly impact people's daily lives. These impactful experiences leave a lasting impression on real estate professionals."

Another significant opportunity that shapes the industry and enables change is the Florida Realtors® Mid-Winter Business Meetings. During these meetings, members come together to generate ideas and make decisions that advance the goals of Florida Realtors® and the real estate industry in the state. Jarrod Lowe, the 2024 Florida Realtors® PAC Trustee Chair, emphasizes the importance of unity and shared objectives in effecting change over time. He highlights the need for transparency in public policy, particularly in reforming homebuyer HOAs from seller to buyer and implementing tax reductions to protect Business Sole Member LLCs. The Mid Winter Business Meetings are an excellent opportunity to gather like-minded professionals and to create decisions based on what questions or concerns in the real estate industry need the most attention.

These opportunities are crucial in shaping decisions that impact the real estate community. Realtors® take pride in attending events like GARD as it provides a platform for their voices to be heard. This is a monumental effort to create change by gathering together to achieve goals that pave the way for meaningful solutions for the greater good of the real estate community.
