Be Cautious of NAR Insurance Scam Calls

Realtors® Report Fake Scam Calls Seemingly from NAR

In stressful times, people want help from people they trust. Scammers know that, and the ones claiming to represent NAR aren’t really selling insurance or anything else.

Realtors® continue to receive seemingly legitimate phone calls from scammers who say they represent the National Association of Realtors® (NAR).

NAR has posted a number of member alerts over the years, and it has done so again. It posted a fraud alert to warn members that these phone calls are not from the association and are a scam. NAR says the latest calls reportedly ask for money or personal information in order to receive news about NAR insurance.

“These calls do not originate from NAR,” the association warned in a fraud alert to members last Thursday. “The association does not make unsolicited calls to enroll you in an insurance program, ask you to pay for something, or to otherwise solicit your personal information.”

The phone calls so far are coming from Washington, D.C., area codes, including these phone numbers: 202-205-9284 and 202-319-9312.

To check on the legitimacy of communication from NAR, call 800-874-6500 or contact NAR via live chat or email.
