Good Neighbors & Great Realtors® are in South Florida
The National Association of Realtors® recently announced their 2023 Good Neighbor Awards Winners, which honor NAR members who make an extraordinary difference in their communities through volunteer work. Now in its 24th year, the Good Neighbor Awards recognize volunteers who donate time, money, and passion to enrich the lives of people in their communities.
Among those winners are Broward, Palm Beaches & St. Lucie Realtors® member Kasia Maslanka. Kasia, a Realtor® with Douglas Elliman, co-founded Morningday Community Solutions to redirect overstocked or returned excess merchandise from retail businesses to nonprofits and people who need it. Over 13 years, they've saved nonprofits $9 million in spending and have diverted over 400 tons of unused products from landfills each year.
"I have had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Kasia on our podcast. She is without a doubt deserving of this award, and I am proud to see her representing Realtors® here in South Florida," said President of Broward, Palm Beaches & St. Lucie Realtors®, Chris Krzemien.
The five winners received a $10,000 grant and national media exposure for their charity, including a feature in the fall issue of REALTOR® Magazine. The winners will also be honored in November during NAR NXT, The REALTOR® Experience, in Anaheim, California. Five honorable mentions will receive $2,500 grants.
"Our Members do more than sell homes. They build neighborhoods, fight for property rights, and go above and beyond to show that Realtors® truly care," said CEO of Broward, Palm Beaches & St. Lucie Realtors®, Dionna Hall.
The Broward, Palm Beaches & St. Lucie Realtors® association is not surprised by Kasia's victory because they know their members embody these selfless acts of kindness daily. In fact, the association has strategically built a culture around Realtors® giving back to their community. The association has three charitable foundations that aim to extend help, resources, and funds to local Realtors® and individuals within South Florida.
