St. Lucie Releases Mask Ordinance for Businesses

St. Lucie County Commissioners approved in a 4 to 1 vote an emergency ordinance requiring the mandatory wearing of face coverings for employees working for businesses open to the public in places where social distancing is difficult to do.

The order applies to the entire county and states that all persons working in restaurants, grocery stores, food service, salons, gyms, any retail establishments, or businesses open to the public or any other locations visited by the public, where social distancing is not possible, shall wear face coverings. Facial covers are not required, but strongly encourage for customers, unless a business chooses to implement that requirement.

St. Lucie County’s Public Safety staff encourages residents and visitors to continue to follow state and regional guidelines to protect themselves from the spread of COVID-19 including wearing a mask in public, avoiding large crowds and keeping a six-foot distance from others.
